They will see unique sights and have one-of-kind cultural experiences, visiting museums filled with masterpieces of European art, touring historical quarters, and seeing the Moorish influence on both architecture and culture.<\/p>\n
For many, the highlights will be tours of two of the world\u2019s most famous football grounds \u2013 Real Madrid\u2019s Bernabeu stadium and Barcelona\u2019s Camp Nou.<\/p>\n
The trip has been made possible by Community Jameel, the social enterprise arm of Abdul Latif Jameel, which operates around the world to promote a positive society and economic sustainability in a number of different fields, including job creation, poverty alleviation, water and food security, arts and culture, and education.<\/p>\n
Working closely with the Social Affairs department operating within the Saudi Ministry of Labour, Community Jameel\u2019s Tanweer Jameel Orphan Support Programme aims to reward children who have shown outstanding academic promise with an annual opportunity to see the world.<\/p>\n
This year, 20 carefully selected children aged 14 to 18 have travelled to Madrid, and move on to explore Seville, Barcelona, and Granada along with two supervisors from the Social Affairs department, an educator, and a representative from Community Jameel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis trip is something that would normally be beyond the reach of children in such an unfortunate position,\u201d said Abdalla Taleb, manager of health and social initiatives at Community Jameel.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, with the support of Community Jameel, Tanweer Jameel Orphan Support Programme, and the Ministry of Labour, promising young children are every year given a most remarkable opportunity to see the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur aim is to help to build character in these young people, but more than that, to show them that they can achieve anything with hard work and perseverance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since the Tanweer Jameel Orphan Support Programme was launched in 2005, more than 200 children have been able to visit France, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and now Spain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
