Community Jameel urged young drivers to buckle up, as it kicked off its ‘Your Seatbelt, Your Safety’ campaign. Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Majed, the Governor of Jeddah, the campaign coincided with the 32nd annual Gulf Traffic Week. The initiative included a range of events at Al Andalus Mall Jeddah, aimed to promote public awareness about the importance of fastening their seatbelts while driving, and adhering to traffic safety rules.

Abdul Latif Jameel League also announced that it will continue raising awareness throughout the current football season with the slogan ‘Buckle Up Round.’ Organized in cooperation of Jeddah Traffic Department, the campaign will highlight the necessity of seatbelts to minimize injuries and road accidents.

Commenting on the campaign, Hassan Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, President of Community Jameel, Saudi Arabia, said: “Decreasing traffic accidents is not just a responsibility of governments and traffic agencies, it is also a duty of every individual, business, school and civic organization. Taking part in 32nd Gulf Traffic Week reflects Community Jameel’s commitment to ensuring safety on the roads of Saudi Arabia.”

The campaign will continue along the year through various events for road safety awareness of the danger of high speeds on the road and crossing the red signal as well as the use of mobile phone while driving, to reduce crash cars frequency.

Brig. Gen. Wasl Allah Al-Harbi, director of the Jeddah Traffic Department, thanked Community Jameel for the campaign, saying: “We are working with our partners in the private sector to ensure the safety of everyone in the Kingdom. Through awareness campaigns and focused events, it is essential to communicate the necessity to adhere to traffic systems, and buckle up to protect themselves, their families, and society.”
