Community Jameel Saudi Foundation Presents Special Awards at Ibdaa 2026

The Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, a Saudi Arabia-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship, science, and technology, participated in honoring the winners at the closing ceremony of the Saudi Science and Engineering Fair 2026 (Ibdaa 2026), organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). The ceremony was held on Wednesday evening, January 28, 2026, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region. Community Jameel Saudi participation consisted of presenting special awards to students who participated with outstanding research projects at the fair.
The winners of the special awards presented by the Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, are: Nawaf Mahmoud Al-Ibrahim, a student from the Eastern Province Education Department, for his research project in the field of materials science; Lamis Abdulmohsen Al-Qadi, a student from the Qassim Education Department, for her research on developing a coating made from zinc oxide and graphene oxide to protect solar panels and enhance UV absorption; Mawada Tawfiq Awad, a student from the Eastern Province Education Department, for her research on extracting graphene nanosheets to produce a highly efficient catalyst for hydrogen gas production from water; and Ammar Atef Al-Zahrani, a student from the Eastern Province Education Department, for his research on using manganese dioxide compounds to improve the performance of zinc batteries.
In this regard, Dr. May Taibah, a member of the Board of Trustees at Community Jameel Saudi, stated: “The Foundation’s participation in honoring these talented young Saudis stems from our commitment to supporting scientists and activating the role of innovation in developing talent, and from our belief in emerging minds and their ability to compete locally and internationally in scientific and technological fields.”
For his part, Mr. Mohammed Abdulghaffar, Senior General Manager for initiatives at Community Jameel Saudi, commented on the participation: “We thank the Mawhiba Foundation for this exceptional platform that showcases national talent. We are delighted to participate in attracting and nurturing these talents so they can realize their dreams and transform their innovations into startups, following the example of other entrepreneurial projects that have achieved success and distinction with the support of the StartSmart Hub.”
The Ibdaa Fair aims to create a stimulating, competitive, and innovative scientific environment for emerging scientific researchers among middle and high school students, preparing them to compete in the fields of innovation and scientific research. Community Jameel Saudi’s participation included presenting special awards to four outstanding winners. The awards consist of 4 seats for the students in the foundation’s entrepreneurship development programs through the StartSmart Hub and the Jameel DeepTech Initiative, to help them complete their journey and transform their scientific research and innovative ideas into impactful entrepreneurial ventures, that contribute to achieving sustainable national development in line with the Vision 2030.
